SMI's document retention microfilming conforms to the following specifications: Filming: - The Reference Archive media is a 16mm, high-contrast Kodak silver halide polyester base microfilm manufactured to ANSI, NEH, and Federal Standards. 16mm Reference Archive media is available in 100 and 215 foot rolls. Output Format: - Two main formats are supported by the i9600 Archive writer: Single and Dual. Single format creates one image per frame and Dual format creates two images per frame. Dual format is similar to using "extended play" on a video cassette recorder - more minutes of recording time are available than when using "standard play" but there is a slight degradation in image quality. Most filming projects will perform well using Single or Dual format. Additionally, there is a Custom Dual format available that yields more images per roll than Dual format however, there is some loss in image quality. Reduction Ratio: - Images on 16mm microfilm will maintain the aspect ratio of the original documents. The relationship in the size of the original document to the size of the image on 16mm microfilm is referred to as the reduction ratio. Document Capacity per Roll: - The document capacity varies by roll size and by reduction ratio. This chart assumes all images are letter-size (A4) portrait pages. Inspection: - After each master negative roll has been processed it is inspected to insure that the resolution (focus) and density (contrast) specifications are met. Storage: - The preservation master negative can be stored and maintained in our climate controlled facilities at nominal charge or returned to the customer. |
