SMI is currently digitizing over 30 newspaper backfiles in a text-searchable PDF format. We have the expertise, resources and equipment to digitize newspaper back issues in a timely manner.

We can also convert standard format digital files (TIFF, JPEG, BMP, GIF, PDF and others) to microfilm. Using digital files to produce microfilm copies of archives, books and documents yields near-perfect image quality while minimizing operator intervention and eliminating the logistics involved with shipping paper copies from point-to-point. Each application is unique and requires the skills, equipment, and processes that are only available from SMI.

Southwest Micropublishing is equipped to handle all of your company's document imaging and records managment requirements. SMI employs a variety of equipment and document scanning technologies and we can provide your organization with quality digital and microfilmed images. We can scan in-house or receive digital files from our customers via tape, removable drives, FTP, and VPN. For terminal documents, SMI has its own in-house paper shredding facilities.

Our media-to-media conversion services handle everything from simple media conversions to complex imaging conversions requiring data to be exported from one system and then converted to a different image format, media format and index format. We can assist your company in migrating to new systems by extracting the data and storing it on new media, in a format ready for import into the new system, without the need to re-scan or re-index the original source data.
